Indonesia’s Mobile Gaming Industry is expected to witness its highest peak in the coming years. Here are some simple stats to prove why developers shouldn’t ignore this market – Out of Indonesia’s 240 mn population, 160 mn of which are over 15 years of age. Almost all of them own at least one mobile phone & many under 15 also do! Feature phones dominate the market by 97% share & smartphones by 78%. Moreover, brands like EA & Rovio have been at the forefront of developing games for such markets to capture more & more users. Breaking through this clutter is Aksara Studio; who are tapping the local citizens’ love for Indonesian culture and mashing it up with social media to come up with creative games and apps.
Aksara Studio was founded in 2009 by three games aficionados who called it Enlight Games Studio initially. Merging their varied expertise in Java, ME, Series 40 and Windows Phones, they began developing games for different mobile platforms. Renaming their company to Aksara Studio in 2011, today they develop apps, games and themes with a global success rate of around 1.8 million downloads to boot. Cooking Express Java & Tap Tap Ghost are few of Aksara’s well-known games.
The team at Aksara credits their popularity to its expertise of building educational content and focusing on Indonesia’s culture. Every project is executed with a clear vision, passion and foresight. It is this emphasis on quality that helped Aksara become a part of the Nokia Developer Consultancy Network in 2013.
Aksara Studio monetizes its apps through in-app ads using various models. Talking about the biggest benefit of using Vserv.mobi’s AppWrapper, our one click monetization tool, Jeffrey Halimsetiawan, Co-founder of Eksara Studio says “From our past experience, we have realized that using Vserv’s AppWrapper has resulted in higher revenue for us as compared to other networks in the market. Their ‘easy to use’ technology makes them our preferred partner for monetizing Aksara’s apps.”

|Apps||Nokia Store, Windows Store|
Inspired by the likes of Bill Gates & Steve Jobs, Jeffrey’s advice to his peers is “Love what you do, build great products & the result will be way above your expectations!”. For now Aksara plans to launch new apps and games into the market which will hopefully broaden the horizons of their current technology. Here’s wishing Jeffrey & the team at Aksara Studio all the very best for their future projects.
