Touted as South East Asia’s most emerging digital market, Indonesia has enjoyed a steady economic growth of around six percent for a few years now. Insights from our recent Mobile Internet Consumer Report show that Indonesia has the youngest mobile internet user base in Southeast Asia. A majority of their population is below 30 years old & with that productive age, the feeling of a ‘need for change’ is strong in Indonesia. The huge digital penetration in this market is primarily due to the increase in the usage of Mobile & Internet technology which is creating unprecedented growth & demand of mobile apps hence turning the youth into innovators of new technology. One such player in this market is Madina Technologies, based out of Cibubur, West Java; with an underlying motto to ‘Write the Future’.
Muhammad Hadi Alathas began developing apps for the Android platform after attending an App Development workshop in 2011. Up until then he was not really driven with the idea of programming or coding. He and a couple of friends were really motivated to attend a few more workshops. They soon started developing apps for Windows phones, Nokia S40 and Blackberry 10. In 2012 they established Madina Technologies with a vision to become the best app-development firm in the world. After commencing their operations, the biggest challenge Madina faced was building a team of committed individuals with a singular goal of taking the company to the next level. Some of the most popular apps developed by Madina are World Football Quiz with around 60,000 downloads at Nokia Store; and Dzikir Counter & Planet Kimia with over 14,000 downloads at Play Store.
Madina Technologies monetizes its apps by ads where Vserv.mobi’s platform AppWrapper helped them boost their revenue to a large extent. Elaborating on this, the team said “Vserv’s innovative advertising concepts have proven to be extremely helpful for us. Getting in touch with their team for monetizing our apps helped us lessen our load. We’re grateful to them for handing us a Samsung Galaxy S3 at the StartUp Asia 2012 as it has helped us in testing a lot of applications.”

As a vote of thanks, the team at Madina took this opportunity to express their gratitude to Rully Hasibuan for introducing them to the world of mobile applications & Narenda Wicaksono, the Nokia Developer Evangelist in Indonesia for spreading their knowledge and motivating Indonesians into discovering and developing technology on their own. Here’s wishing them all the luck in developing excellent content and expanding their start-up to reach & experience new horizons.
